2007 Glenwood Springs Rallye - Hard Luck and Longest Distance Traveled Trophies

 Hard Luck Trophy
Randy & Julie Rex
T.V.R. Vixen 2500
Grand Junction, Colorado

The Set Up
In preparation for the 2007 Rallye Glenwood Springs, Randy meticulously cleaned, waxed, and polished the Vixen to concours d'elegance condition.  Ten miles east of Grand Junction a Bald Eagle, stunned by the brilliant shine of the car fell through the sunroof!  After a flurry of flying feathers and arms, the inhabitants of the car were able to safely stop the Vixen!  Julie revived the bird with Gatorade and the eagle flew off into the thermals of Grand Mesa.  Julie and Rex gathered their mental calmness and prepared to resume their sojourn to Glenwood Springs.

The Hard Luck Section
With the eagle still in view, the Vixen accelerated into traffic and the throttle cable broke.  Without a spare cable, the Vixen needed to be towed back to Grand Junction to the Rex's local repair shop.  Randy made certain the Vixen was locked and proceeded to drop the keys into the overnight lockbox.  Unfortunately their accoutrements, baggage, and clothing were locked in the Vixen as well.  The Rex's ventured home to find the spare set of Vixen keys and their air conditioned Toyota 4Runner.  A second stop was made at the repair shop.  Accoutrements, baggage, and clothing were transferred into the 4Runner.  Julie and Randy set off again for Glenwood Springs.

What Hard Luck?
The broken throttle cable?
The keys prematurely dropped into a lockbox?
No access to accoutrements, baggage, and clothing for Glenwood Springs?
Driving to Glenwood Springs in an air conditioned Toyota 4Runner?
