MGCC Meeting
June 10, 2010
7:05 Meeting starts
No new members this month.
4 People drove their MGs tonight and 1 rather sweaty president actually rode his bike. Oddly enough, people did sit next to him.
Dorothy Stone’s mother passed away this week. There will be a memorial Service at the Elizabeth Presbyterian church on Wednesday the 16th at 4:30.
Glenwood
Don Arnst guarantees good weather this weekend. We are in good shape, Dorothy will be there despite her mother’s passing, but the Gunderson’s won’t be arriving until Saturday. We’ve got enough help to cover regalia till they get there. The funkhana is in good shape, but they are looking for a Mannequin. Apparently someone needs a date. We have several out of state people looking for navigators. Contact Jackie Jones if you can help.
Treasurer’s report
112 people registered for Glenwood. We have money, but we’ve got some big bills coming due so that may not last. Even then we should break even or maybe make a little bit of cash.
Old Car Council
No Dick Fritz this month, but apparently there’s nothing to report anyway.
Membership
201 members
Past Events:
Drive your British Car Week Stace and Joanne did just that by driving to Key West. It’s amazing the lengths people will go to win Jack’s milage competition. Surprisingly enough they are now in the lead.
New Business
Keith Kerr made some very handy calendars to hand out to everyone. Thanks Keith!
Craig Hospital car show will be at Bandimere Speedway August 16th.
Old Car Council’s Havana Cruise will be June 19th
Air Force/Navy football game may be falling through as our contact is MIA. We will continue to try to get this put together.
Regalia
Kathy Gunderson has a huge box of stuff to sell and will be at Gunther Toody’s on Friday.
Swap Shop
Al Wulf has 2 MGB Tube Type axles, 1 wire wheel, 1 Disc wheel $30 each.
Eileen Edwards mentioned that they have loads of stuff on the web site for sale. Luckily Stan doesn’t seem to be among the things listed, but they’re cleaning house and have a lot of great things they’re trying to move.
Moab Trip
Almost forgot but Ron Akin says that things are coming together nicely for the Moab trip to Yellowstone.
Shaft Awards
Nobody would own up for any shaft awards this month, but Jonathan Lane had an update from a previous story some time ago. His friend Rein in San Francisco had a break in at a storage unit and had a couple cars and a bunch of tools stolen. He did manage to find his dad’s 1949 LaSalle for sale on craigslist so thankfully this very rare car has been recovered. Yay!
Phinque award
Oddly enough a couple people admitted to this one.
Stace ended up with a colossal coolant leak when he used the incorrect bolt to attach a new heater valve.
And Jack Knopinski has decided not to take his Healey to Glenwood because it tends to fill with water every time he drives it in the rain. Apparently he installed the scuttle seals incorrectly when he rebuilt the car and now he’s dealing with a bunch of leaks.
Short meeting adjourned at 7:40.
